2011 Holiday Basket / Book Sale
Last November and December over 100 gift baskets with books and related items were created
by the Friends. In addition, book sets, autographed copies and current editions were offered for sale
as holiday gifts totaling 206 items. Thanks to patron support, a vast majority was sold bringing in
more than $4300 to allow the Friends to support the library.
2012 Spring Book Sale
This year's book sale is scheduled for the week of March 25th with the Members Only Social to be
held on Wednesday, March 28th. The sale itself with be from March 29th through April st.

2011 Annual Meeting
The 2011 Annual Meeting was held on Wednesday, October 12th at the library. At 6:00 PM the library
was open for an art browse featuring the artwork submitted for the 2011 Purchase Award Art Contest.
Visitors had an opportunity to vote for the "Peoples' Choice" award.
At 7:00 PM our guest speaker was Graeme Reid, the Assistant Director of the Museum of Wisconsin Art
in West Bend. He presented a power point presentations on famous Wisconsin artists and the
Milwaukee influence on the art world. He brought us up to date on the progress of the new art museum
in West Bend.
Awards for the 2011 Purchase Award Art Contest were presented at 8:00PM.
A short business meeting and election for Vice President and Treasurer was held.
Refreshments were provided.
2012 Annual Meeting
The Annual meeting for 2012 in scheduled for Wednesday, October 10th. Wisconsin author
Lesley Kagen will be the guest speaker. Lesley was born in Milwaukee and spent her youth living in a
a working class neighborhood similar to the settings of her books Whistling in the Dark and Good
Graces.

2012 Purchase Art Award Contest
The "fifth annual" Purchase Art Award Contest will be held this fall. The contest was created for
the purpose of acquiring an original piece of art produced by a Washington County non-professional
artist. The first place entry will be purchased for $300 and gifted to the library. Second place receives
$75 and third place will be awarded $50. Honorable mention pieces and the "Peoples' Choice" selection
will be recognized.
All artwork will be displayed in the library for the month of October.
The deadline for registration will be in September. Watch for details at a later date. Two pieces of
art may be submitted for the $15 registration fee. The art will be judged by an artist / instructor of art.
