2009 Friends Purchase Award Art Contest

          The Friends hold an annual Purchase Award Art Contest for the purpose of encouraging and 
          spotlighting the fine arts in Germantowan while acquiring an original piece of art created by a 
          Washington County non-professional artist.

In 2009 thirty-two non-professional Washington County artist submitted 1or 2 pieces of art.  Fifty-seven pieces of art were judged by Sue Farmer-Tiefenthaler, art instructor and Professor Emeritus for the UW-Madison.  The awards are listed below.

The Friends would like to thank all participants for making the contest a great success and beautifying our library with their creations.

We are looking forward to planning the 2010 Contest and will have registration forms available at all Washington County libraries  in April of 2010.  Participants must be older than 18, residents of Washington County, and non-professional artists.

The presentation ceremony for the Purchase Award Art Contest awarded prizes to:

1st Place - Kathy L. (Hubertus) for her acrylic, "Knowledge is the Window to the World"   

The picture was purchased for $300 and will be gifted to the library.

 2nd Place  - Frank R. (Germantown) for his photograph, "Bedtime Story"

          The award was $75.

  3rd Place - Mary B. (Germantown) for her watercolor, "Golden Gate Park Waterlily".

           The award was $50.

2010 Purchase Art Award Contest

          Deadline for registration September 24, 2010

          Picture drop-off at library September 27 and 28 (9:00-1:00 and 3:00-8:00)

          Displayed at library the month of October.

          Awards ceremony October 13th at 7:00 pm at the Library.

          Picture pick-up October 29 or 30 (9:00-2:00)
